Hemp is a plant in the Cannaceae family. It’s a cousin of hops and a brother (or sister) of marijuana also known as ganja. Hemp produces buds and flowers every year in the fall time; once harvested, it can be used for an incredible variety of different things.
Its fibrous stems can make textiles and clothing…its seeds are a great nutrition source…and its flowers? They’re nature’s single greatest source of CBD.
Marijuana also known as “ganja” among others, refers to parts of or products from the plant Cannabis sativa that contain substantial amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the substance that’s primarily responsible for the effects of marijuana on a person’s mental state, which causes users to get “high”.
Also referred to as the ECS, the endocannabinoid system is a group of receptors in your brain and nervous system that works with cannabinoids made by your body, and those made by plants, phytocannabinoids (i.e. CBD, CBG, CBN). The ECS helps to regulate vital functions of the body including:
- and much more!
When the endocannabidnoid system (ECS) is in sync, humans and animals alike are able to achieve homeostasis (or balance), which means it’s operating at optimal performance. Learn more about the amazing endocannabinoid system in our blog.

Hemp and hemp-derived products are legal to produce, sell, and consume throughout all 50 states, thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill; once they are derived from industrial hemp containing less than 0.3 percent THC. However, states can still decide if they want to allow the sale and production of hemp-based products.

CBD does not have the same ability to create a “high” as marijuana does. It’s effects may usually help users feel relaxed, less anxious, promoting a sense of calm, quality sleep and overall well-being but you won’t get high if you choose to use premium CBD oils, ingestibles, wellness gift bundles and other products.
The relationship between CBD and the body may create feelings of relaxation and calmness, restful sleep, relieves exercise-induced inflammation, less anxious, relieve achy joints, sore muscles, and stiffness to name a few. In fact, many users report positive effects using CBD including blissful, soothing, improved mood, and overall feelings of wellness and well-being.
However, the exact feeling you get from CBD depends on a few factors including, but not limited to the type of CBD product(s) you select dosage, and individual-specific factors such as your body’s chemistry, metabolism, body weight, medications you may be taking, ailment, medical condition, and diet. It can also depend on the quality of CBD, which will also determine the therapeutic value you receive from that product.
CBD dosing depends on several individual-specific characteristics such as body weight, diet, medical conditions, prescriptions, medical history, and more. This makes it difficult to set specific measurements that are right for everyone. Prior to starting any dietary supplements including CBD, we recommend that you consult and work with your healthcare professionals to ensure you take the correct dosage.
The effects of CBD will vary for each individual depending on height, weight, and the quantity of CBD taken. Because there are no intoxicating ingredients with CBD oil, there is no “high” effect; start with small amounts and gradually increase with each use until reaching desired results. The key with CBD is consistent use. Use for at least 30 days to ascertain its effects.
If you are pregnant and/or nursing, we recommend that you consult with your personal healthcare professionals prior to using any CBD product.
